
Mark finds his niche late in life as a postie
Mark recently relocated from New South Wales to Victoria with his partner, bringing with him a diverse employment background that included experience in the printing industry, work as a V/Line train conductor, and providing support in the aged care sector.
Mark joined CVGT Employment’s Workforce Australia program after having difficulty finding employment. Despite applying for over seventy jobs online Mark felt his age was holding him back from progressing to the next stage.
I started to believe I was too old to gain employment. I recalled CVGT Employment has a good reputation and asked Centrelink to refer me to CVGT Kyneton.

Following an assessment of Mark’s needs by CVGT Employment Consultant Rebecca Franke, he was shortlisted for an interview with the Marong Post Office. After a successful interview, Mark was offered employment as a postman.
It was great to be able to support Mark into meaningful employment that he loves, especially after the difficulties he experienced trying to find work as an older job seeker.

If you are in your 50s and 60s go try the person-to-person approach. I am an example of how that has worked. Be persistent. Register with CVGT Employment. Be flexible in what you apply for and use your transferable skills to find work.
