Hospitality goal becomes a reality for Kaidan

When Kaidan joined CVGT Employment’s Inclusive Employment Australia program in 2025, he had a clear goal: to work in hospitality.

With the support of CVGT Employment Work Support Mentor Daniel in Echuca, Kaidan, who has autism, worked towards achieving that goal. Daniel supported him to gain his driver’s licence, build his confidence in interviews and develop the skills needed to work in a hospitality environment.

It wasn’t long before Daniel identified Moama Bowling Club as a potential employer, creating an opportunity that proved to be the perfect fit.

Moama Bowling Club’s just been the perfect fit for Kaidan, mainly because of the support they’ve been able to provide him and the fact that they’re so willing to look at hiring people from diverse backgrounds.

Building confidence at work

Since starting at Moama Bowling Club, Kaidan has received ongoing support from Senior Duty Manager Brett, while continuing to stay connected with Daniel as he settles into his new role.

Brett as been completely patient with me, helping me out, setting goals, helping with work and what I need to do. Actually I think it’s what every employer of people with a disability should help with.

The value of inclusive employment

Moama Bowling Club has also appreciated the support provided by CVGT Employment and the insights that help employers create inclusive workplaces where employees can thrive.

It’s been a great experience and it’s always good to see the input and the amount of help that we get because every person that we get from CVGT has a different background. It’s always good to get their insight because they’ve spent a lot more time with these staff members beforehand and it gives us a bit more of an open ended question of, you know, how we can help them improve  in our club and develop. So yeah, it’s been really good.

Thriving in his new role

Today, Kaidan is thriving in his role and is grateful for the support he has received throughout his employment journey.

They’ve got patience, time and they’re not ‘judgey’ as well, I think they’re perfect for disability. No matter what disability you have, they can help with anything.
