Supporting people doing it tough in Dandenong through Kindness Community sponsorship
CVGT Employment is honoured to support the Kindness Community with sponsorship of their weekly Tuesday night meal and support service in Dandenong.
With the rising cost of living placing increasing pressure on families, CVGT Employment is proud to support organisations that provide practical, immediate help to those who need it most. One such organisation is the Kindness Community, a volunteer‑run group offering a weekly Tuesday night meal and support service in Dandenong.
Thanks to CVGT Employment’s sponsorship, the Kindness Community has been able to continue supporting around 150 families every week with food, warm blankets, essential supplies and referrals to specialist services. Each week, 80–100 people attend the meal service in person at the local park, while additional food and grocery packs are delivered to nearby rooming houses and homeless shelters.
The sponsorship funds were used to purchase:
- Bulk meat (including halal options)
- Catering supplies
- Grocery items for weekly food hampers
- A small induction cooktop and pot to prepare fresh soup onsite
This support ensured the Kindness Community could continue offering healthy, nutritious meals without interruption, which is something they have proudly done for the past six years.

The support from CVGT Employment helped us to get through a very difficult time financially, which allowed our project to continue to run and serve hundreds of people doing it tough in the Greater Dandenong community. The outcome of the sponsorship was that we were able to buy essential food and supplies to continue to provide healthy and nutritious food to over 150 families each week.”

A Community Built on Compassion
The Kindness Community is powered by a dedicated team of around 25 volunteers who support a diverse group of people, including long‑term unemployed individuals, refugees, people experiencing homelessness and people with disability.

Beyond meals, the organisation provides:
- Referrals to homelessness services
- Counselling and family violence support
- Refugee assistance
- Clothing hampers through a partnership with Thread Together, offering brand‑new clothing to guests
For many who attend, the weekly gathering is more than a meal: it’s also a place of connection and dignity.
“Being able to attend this regular meal feels like home to me, and that means a lot especially as I don’t have a home right now.”
