Sharysse gains freedom and opportunities through support to gain her license

When Sharysse first came in to Parent Pathways in Melton, her goal was to obtain her licence, which she was quite nervous about. Sharysse is a single mum of 4 children who relies on public transport to get around and take her children to specialist appointments.

Through support from Parent Pathways, we were able to organise funding for her to get 5 driving lessons through Smooth Shift Driving Academy, so she could start gaining more confidence and understanding the road rules. After completing these, Sharysse received an additional 5 lessons until her confidence became apparent. She then completed her Hazards Perception Test and driving Test utilising funding from Parent Pathways.

As time has passed and Sharysse has been putting in the work and gaining her confidence with knowing road rules and driving skills I have noticed that Sharysse’s overall confidence has began to blossom too. Supporting Sharysse in achieving her goal of obtaining her licence has been nothing short of amazing to see and the freedom that is has opened for her.

Now Sharysse is much more prepared to support her family and has greater confidence in herself and her ability to seek employment opportunities. Here is what Sharysse had to say about the support she received from CVGT Employment through the Parent Pathways program.

My experience with CVGT has been really good. Aimee has been extremely supportive in helping me achieve the goals that I have wanted to achieve. Obtaining my licence now has giving me the chance to more opportunities and freedom. It has now provided me the freedom to be able to drive my children to and from places such as school, ongoing specialists’ appointments & sports which I didn’t have before.
