Kurt builds a career with Challenger Valves
Kurt joined CVGT Employment’s Transition to Work program in March 2025 looking for support to secure full-time warehouse work and build a long-term career.
Workforce Australia – Transition to Work is an Australian Government funded program that supports young people aged 15 to 24 to build practical skills, gain qualifications and connect with real job opportunities.
With motivation but limited licences, Kurt and his CVGT Employment youth mentor focused on gaining skills. Kurt successfully completed a forklift course with Star Training in May 2025 and later obtained his probationary driver’s licence after undertaking lessons with Kialla Independent Driving School.
Kurt’s commitment and genuine attitude stood out early, particularly during Job Canvassing Club, a hands-on program where participants build confidence, approach employers and apply for job. During these clubs Kurt showed determination to succeed.
Connecting with the right employer
At the same time, CVGT Employment was working with Challenger Valves in Shepparton, an Australian-owned company operating since 1984 and a recognised leader in valves and actuation systems across industries including water, mining, power generation and manufacturing.
Challenger was seeking a motivated team member for a Warehouse Assistant and Valve Assembly role. Kurt’s attitude, newly gained forklift licence and willingness to learn made him a strong fit. He applied, interviewed successfully and commenced with the company.
Thriving in the role
Since starting, Kurt has built a strong reputation with his employer. Feedback highlights his work ethic, reliability, willingness to learn and positive contribution to the team.
He has also achieved a major personal milestone, purchasing his own vehicle after gaining his licence.
Kurt is now building a stable future with Challenger Valves, taking confident steps toward his long-term career goals.
