Determination drives Jesse’s success
For Jesse, taking on a new challenge meant stepping outside his comfort zone and backing himself to try again.
In December 2025, Jesse, a participant in the Inclusive Employment Australia program, enrolled in a forklift training course to build his skills and support his career progression with Glenorchy-based employer, SEED (Social Enterprise, Employment and Diversity).
SEED is a Tasmanian not‑for‑profit social enterprise committed to providing inclusive and innovative employment and training opportunities to people with disability at award wages.
While the course initially proved challenging and Jesse was unable to complete the qualification on his first attempt, he didn’t let that setback define him.
With encouragement from his CVGT Employment Work Support Mentor, Dale, and the support and approval of local training provider Select Safety Tasmania, Jesse was given another opportunity to pursue his goal.
Turning setbacks into success
Determined to succeed, Jesse approached the training with a renewed mindset and embraced the challenge. His hard work and perseverance paid off when he successfully completed the forklift course.
“Jesse showed incredible resilience throughout his training journey,” said Dale.
Rather than giving up when things became difficult, he remained committed to his goal and was willing to put himself out there and try again. We’re incredibly proud of what he has achieved.

Supporting growth in the workplace
Through Inclusive Employment Australia, CVGT Employment works closely with both participants and employers to create opportunities for long-term success in the workplace. This can include identifying training and development opportunities, facilitating workplace adjustments, connecting employers with available supports and resources, and providing ongoing assistance to help employees build new skills and remain engaged in their roles.
For participants like Jesse, access to training such as forklift licensing can increase confidence, expand workplace responsibilities and support career growth, while helping employers develop a skilled and capable workforce that can thrive over the long term.
New skills, new opportunities
Since gaining his forklift licence, Jesse’s confidence has continued to grow. His new qualification has opened the door to increased responsibilities in the workplace, including operating a forklift and taking on a wider variety of day-to-day tasks.
Jesse’s employer, SEED, has also recognised his achievement, celebrating his success on the organisation’s Facebook page and acknowledging the determination and dedication he demonstrated to further develop his skills.
“A huge congratulations t our staff member Jess who recently earned his forklift license after months of hard work and dedication,” the post read.
Jess has already started putt his new skill to good use at our Recycle and Rewards Depot, helping keep things moving behind the scenes. Well done Jess.

Looking ahead
