Aleasha’s journey to a new career
When Aleasha Walker reached out to CVGT Employment to reconnect with the Transition to Work program, she knew she was ready for a change. After working in hospitality, she wanted to shift careers but wasn’t sure where to start.
Finding the right support
From the moment she returned to the program, Youth Employment Mentor Chloe Thompson helped her explore new career paths based on what she liked and felt confident doing. They talked about her strengths and interest, what she wanted to avoid and the kind of work that would give her the stability she was looking for.
CVGT Employment helped with ideas about where I’d like to work. They’ve been a great support.

Through these conversations, she realised that cleaning offered the structure, routine and sense of purpose she had been looking for.
Building confidence for a career change
One of the first jobs Aleasha applied for was a cleaning role in Shepparton. She didn’t get it, but instead of stepping back, the experience pushed her forward. It became a moment where she realised what she needed to grow. With Chloe’s support, they unpacked what went well and what could be stronger, turning that setback into a chance to build her interview skills, improve her presentation and boost her confidence for the next opportunity.
Those efforts soon paid off. When a cleaning position at GV Health, the main health service in the Goulburn Valley, came up, Aleasha walked into the interview feeling more prepared than ever and performed strongly. She was offered the role and embraced the chance to start fresh in a new industry.
Removing barriers and starting strong
To make sure Aleasha could begin her new job smoothly, Chloe supported her to complete her Working with Children Check, NDIS Check and Police Check, all fully funded through the Transition to Work program. The wrap around support continued for the next six months, ensuring she felt steady and supported as she settled into her new workplace.
“They’ve also helped me out with fuel vouchers,” Aleasha adds.
Thriving at GV Health
Since joining the GV Health cleaning team, Aleasha has truly flourished. Transition to Work Employment Support Consultant Joel Busasa shared that she has been “incredibly reliable, consistent and dedicated in her full-time role, working 38 hours a week with pride and commitment.”
During regular calls, Joel noted that “Aleasha always brings a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. Additional supports like purchasing comfortable work shoes have helped her feel more confident in her role.”
Encouraging others to take the first step
Today, Aleasha is thriving in her new career and knows she has joined an organisation with real room to grow. GV Health has more than 3,000 staff across six main sites and is the largest permanent employer in the Goulburn Valley, offering strong long term career pathways for people who want to develop within a skilled and supportive workforce.
Aleasha hopes others who feel unsure about their next move will reach out for support, just as she did.
I would like to say to others looking for work, get in touch with CVGT Employment. There are so many opportunities they can help with.
