Calling all aged care providers, hospitals, children’s services or allied health professionals.

CVGT Australia has brought its very successful Learn 2 Work program to the Bendigo region and with more than 60 students interested in participating; the company needs more employers to support this great initiative.

CVGT Australia Acting CEO John Lynch said through Learn 2 Work, CVGT Australia is offering an opportunity for secondary school students to complete a school-based traineeship as part of their VET (VCE/VCAL) studies.

“Learn 2 Work is a part-time, school-based traineeship for secondary school students that combines school, paid employment and nationally accredited vocational training.

“Interest in the program is high with more than 60 students registered, but we need more employers to come on board and offer a position in their workplace.

“We are looking for a range of settings including childcare centres, kindergartens, day care centres, hospitals, aged care homes and allied health and dental practices,” Mr Lynch said.

Participants will work one day each week with their host employer, complete training with a registered training organisation and go to school. Workplaces will provide supervision and allocate tasks and responsibilities appropriate to the qualification.

“As the students are officially employed by CVGT Australia, it can cost as little as $1 per hour to the host employer to have a school-based trainee at their business,” Mr Lynch added.

For more information, potential host employers should contact Pam Ellis on 5449 2112.
