CVGT Australia has signed on as a major sponsor of the AFL Victoria Football Integration Development Association (FIDA) – Northern Conference for the third season running.
The 2017 season kicks off on May 28 in Wodonga, providing people with disability the opportunity to play Australian Rules football at competition level.
CVGT Australia Acting Deputy CEO Craig Canham said the company is delighted to partner with AFL Victoria to bring the FIDA carnival days to Northern Victoria.
“We are proud to partner with AFL Victoria to bring the FIDA carnival days to Northern Victoria and providing people with disability the opportunity to play football.
“Whether participating in our employment services programs or competing in grass roots sports, both programs teach participants valuable life skills, builds confidence, self-esteem and a sense of community.
“These athletes love their footy and CVGT is proud to be able to help them compete in their own competition.
“The matches are a fantastic day and I urge the community to come along and enjoy some great footy,” Mr Canham said.
AFL Victoria FIDA Football and Access All Abilities Manager Tim Nield said CVGT’s support will allow more Victorian’s with disability to pull on the boots.
“The Victorian FIDA Football League is about providing people with disability an opportunity to be physically active, build friendships, improve their confidence and experience that feeling of belonging that comes with all football clubs,” he said.
“Our players just love their football and with CVGT’s support, AFL Victoria will continue to be able to provide the northern country region of Victoria with the opportunity to play our national sport on a regular basis.”
The 2017 Northern Conference includes the Echuca Moama Rockets, GV Stars (Shepparton), Wodonga Jets and Wangaratta Magpies.
Carnival days are scheduled for:-
- Wodonga – 28 May
- Echuca – 25 June
- Shepparton – 9 July
- Wangaratta – 13 August.
