Australian Apprentice Access Program is a short course or
'taster' that runs for approximately 5 weeks offering
pre-apprenticeship skills and work experience. If you are undecided
about your career prospects we strongly encourage participating in
an Access program. Participants that continue into an
apprenticeship dramatically reduce the duration of the
apprenticeship through credit transfers.
Short courses are ways of gaining 'industry tickets' and
maintaining currency with your job roles
The AAAP is a Commonwealth Government programme that provides
disadvantaged job seekers with pre-vocational training and other
forms of assistance to support them to undertake an Australian
Apprenticeship.
Eligible participants are unemployed/registered with ESP and
either
- Have not completed year 12
- Are assessed as eligible for ISCA
- At risk of leaving year 12
- An indigenous Australian or Australian born South Sea
Islander
- Greater than 12 months UE
- Participated in WFD
- Sole parent receiving Parenting Payment
- Over 45 years of age
Programmes consist of:
- At least 150 hours of accredited units (not restricted to full
qualifications)
- At least 37 hours work experience
- 13 weeks Post Placement Support, or,
- 13 weeks Job Search Support.
This programme can be tailored to meet the specific requirements
of the participant. Minimum number of participants required is
10.
