| Overview
Training Credits are a reward for job seekers who
successfully participate in the Work for the Dole (WFD) and/or Community
Work (CW) Programmes. Job Seekers can use their Training Credits to pay
for participation in approved training and for some training related items
or expenses.
The provision of Training Credits in conjuction with the WFD and CW programme
aims to build on the work experience and motivation job seekers have gained
from participation in their Activity. The introduction of early access and upfront
Training Credits aim to encourage greater Training Credit use and to further
improve benefits for job seekers.
Eligibility
Participant eligibility for Training Credits
is outlined below.
Work for the Dole
$300 early access Training Credit after completion of half the required hours for a
full Training Credit, and satisfactory attendance
$500 Training Credit (a total of $800) after completion of the required hours for full
Training Credit.
Community Work
$800 Training Credit after completion of the required hours for a full Training Credit
(Please note, that CW Participants are not eligibile for early access Training Credits)
Work for the Dole - Drought Force
$800 Upfront Drought Force Training Credit paid at Activity Agreement (first Drought Force Activity Only)
$300 early access Training Credit after completion of half the required hours for a full Training Credit, and satisfactory attendance
$500 Training Credit (a total of $800) after completion of the required hours for full Training Credit.
Participation Requirements
The hours of participation required
for a full $800 Training Credit, irrespective of benefit type is: 310 hours
for 18-20 year olds and 390 hours for all other client groups except the Full-Time
WFD Participants who must complete 1100 hours.
Time Limit for using Training Credits
Training Credits have an expiry date of:
12 months from the date of their creation of upfront Training Credits
12 months from the latest Activity end date for early access Training Credits
12 months from the Participant's date of exit for full Training Credits.
What can Training Credits be used for?
Participants can use their Training Credits to
purchase a range of training and training related items, provided they are approved by
DEWR. It is preferable that Participants choose training that complements the work experience
gained from their placement, or that meets a 'Skill in Demand' within their local area. Participants
may use their Training Credit to cover the cost of essential books and equipment once they
have demonstrated that the cost of training course has been met. Training Credit entitlements can
also be used to cover the cost of some licenses, application fees and registrations.
