Information for Consumers

Participants are eligible for the DES program Employment Support Service, if they have:

  • A permanent disability
  • A reduced capacity for communication, learning or mobility
  • May require support in an ongoing nature after placement in employment, and/or
  • May require specialist assistance to build capacity in order to meet participation requirements.


DES providers help Participants with a disability that needs ongoing support. We help with employment preparation, job search, placements and post placement support. We can also provide vocational training and other employment related assistance.

Some examples of what we provide and have access to are:

  • Career planning
  • Training, support and advice on jobs
  • Work experience
  • Help with job seeking such as writing a job application and interview skills
  • Promoting Participants to employers
  • On the job or off site support to help the Participant settle into and keep their job
  • Wage subsidies and funds for workplace modifications for employers.
