Green Corps is an exciting initiative for young people between the ages of 17-20 who are looking for new skills and a pathway to work or study. The program offers young people an opportunity to receive quality training while participating in projects that contribute to significant environmental, cultural and heritage outcomes. Participants are required to be an Australian citizen or resident (or a non Australia citizen who can show that they satisfy the Youth Allowance residence requirements).
What kind of work do Green Corps Teams undertake?
Each project runs for 26 weeks and each team is supervised by an experienced Team Leader
Green Corps teams undertake a myriad of activities including: water quality monitoring, seed collection, propagation, tree planting, revegetation, cultural heritage training, OHS and first aid amongst many others.
You will receive
- an allowance of $300 per week (you must inform Centrelink as soon as you have been accepted on to a Green Corps team)
- accredited training
- experience working on environmental and/or heritage projects
- career counselling and preparation for employment training
- support if you have disability or language and literacy difficulties
- links to potential employers, traineeships and apprenticeships
- sick leave entitlements of Five days paid sick leave without a medical certificate, with the following restrictions:
- It is necessary to provide a medical certificate for sick leave on work days adjacent (before and after) to public holidays and/or anyRostered Days Off.
- a maximum of three consecutive days of absence where the Green Corps Participant has not provided a medical certificate
CVGT have projects commencing in Victoria and Tasmania regularly throughout the year.
