Local Community Partnerships Program(LCP)

Career Advice Australia is an Australian Government initiative committed to improving the quality of career education and helping young Australians make a smooth transition from school to further study, training or work. Career advise Australia aims to assist all 13-19 years through a range of programs and services. Career Advise Australia network helps parents, schools and career teachers better understand post school options, industry developments and current career opportunities. The initiative also encourages industry and employers to help shape their future workforce by being actively involved in young people's career and transition development.

From 2006 Australian Government Local Community Partnerships(LCPs) will be incorporated, not-for-profit,community-based and locally operated organisations contracted by the Department of Education,Science and Training to provide a strategic approach to the implementation of the following three LCP career and transition programmes:

- Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) Programme which facilitates the provision of structured workplace learning opportunities to students in a real or simulated workplace.

- Career and Transition Support (CTS) Programme provides schools, parents and others with access to a range of career and transitions support initiatives.

- Adopt a School Programme (ASP) helps businesses and schools work together to engague young people in hands on experience.

CVGT LCP will facilitate the delivery of the three LCP career and transition programmes to all schools (across all Government, Catholic and other non-Government schooling sectors) for the benefit of all young people (aged 13-19) within their contracted LCP Service Region(s).

CVGT LCP will partner with industry and employer groups, schools, professional career advisers, community organizations, parents, young people, youth service providers and other government and community organizations to assist all young people aged 13-19 years to gain the skills, experience and professional guidance to help them achieve a successful transition through school, and from school to further education, training and employment.
