Who is eligible for the DEN Uncapped programme?
Job Seekers are eligible for the DEN programme, capped and uncapped, if they have:
A permanent (or likely to be permanent) disability
A reduced capacity for communication, learning or mobility
Require support for more than six months after placement in employment, and/or
Require specialist assistance to build capacity in order to meet
participation requirements
Job Seekers are eligible for the DEN Uncapped Programme if they:
Have an assessed future work capacity of 15 - 29 hours per week or a current capacity
of 15 - 29 hours per week and a future capacity of 30 hours or more per week. The
assessment will be conducted by a Job Capacity Assessor;
Are receiving Newstart Allowance, Youth Allowance or Parenting Payment;
Have part time participation requirements;
Can work independently at full wages in the open labour market with up to two
years of employment assistance;
Require more than 6 months of support after being placed in employment; and/or
Require specialist assistance to build capacity to be able to meet participation
requirements

How are job seekers referred to the DEN uncapped programme?
Eligible Jobseekers can be referred to the DEN uncapped programme via:
1. Centrelink/Job Capacity Assessor
The Job Capacity Assessor/Centrelink assesses the jobseekers current capacity for work and
their potential capacity for work both with and without interventions and then refers the jobseeker
directly to the most appropriate DEWR (Department of Employment Workplace Relations) funded
programme for assistance such as DEN.
2. Directly register with CVGT
Jobseekers can directly approach CVGT for assistance. Eligibility will need to be checked with
Centrelink and the jobseeker may have to undergo an assessment with Job Capacity Assessor to
ascertain eligibility for the programme.
3. Another DEN Uncapped Member (transfer)
If an existing DEN jobseeker moves out of the area serviced by their DEN service provider, the
provider may contact CVGT and initiate a direct transfer.
What happens when job seekers commence in the DEN
uncapped programme?
CVGT will maintain regular face to face contact at least once every 10 business days to support
and offer encouragement as well as provide training and employment assistance.
Employment Assistance may include:
Development of an Indvidually tailored employment assistance plan
Pre-vocational or work preparation training
Skills based training
Job Search Services
Referral to complimentary programmes to build skills and gain experience including Work for the Dole & Language Literacy & Numeracy
On the Job training and support
Assist the employer to access additional assistance ie: Workplace Modifications and Wage Subsidy Scheme
Advocate on your behalf
Assistance with self employment options
How long does the DEN uncapped programme go for?
The DEN programme will finish when the job seeker:
- Has been employed for 6 months and does not require further support or only requires intermittent support;
- Has not been placed into employment within 2 years of being accepted into the DEN programme;
- Has been assessed by the Job Capacity Assessor as being ineligible for the DEN uncapped programme; or
- Is no longer receiving Newstart Allowance, Youth Allowance or Parenting Payment
