STRUCTURED TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT PROJECTS(STEP)

The objective of STEP is to provide employers, particulary in the private sector,with additional assistance to recruit,train and develop Indigenous Australians. This includes training in cultural awareness, pre-employment training for participants, employment placement and mentoring after placement for both the participant and the employer.

Location: Various Locations

Who is eligible?

  • Indigenous Australians
  • People who identify and are accepted by the community in which they currently live or have lived.
  • Must be of working age

Why participate in the program?

  • Access to an extensive network of employers and participants
  • Financial assistance for the participant to purchase work clothing and tools
  • Generous incentives for employers
  • Tailored pre-employment training and licensing
  • The opportunity for the participant to gain a qualification through either a Traineeship or an Apprenticeship
  • Ongoing mentoring for both the participant and employer
  • Cultural awareness training for the employer and staff members
